K-State Extension Johnson County

The K-State Johnson County Extension Office is dedicated to serving the Kansas City Metro by providing research-based education and practical, hands-on support for residents, gardeners, farmers, families, and youth. As part of Kansas State University Extension, the office offers trusted, unbiased resources in health and nutrition, agriculture, horticulture, small farms, natural resources, financial management, senior enrichment, 4-H youth development, and community vitality. 

​A core focus of the Johnson County Extension Office is strengthening local food systems and supporting a safe, sustainable, and competitive food and fiber economy. Through community partnerships, volunteer engagement, workshops, farm visits, and outreach programs, Johnson County Extension office helps build healthy families, resilient farms, and thriving neighborhoods across Johnson County. Their work supports stronger food production, smarter land stewardship, and increased access to fresh, locally grown foods. 

Anthony Reardon, the Horticulture–Small Farms Extension Agent, serves growers throughout Johnson County and the greater Kansas City region. He provides technical assistance and education in fruit and vegetable production, specialty crop growing, small farm management, and sustainable agriculture practices. His work helps gardeners and farmers increase productivity, improve soil health, expand local food opportunities, and succeed in today’s evolving local food economy.
