Spring is right around the corner and that means it’s almost time for one of our favorite Kansas City traditions: the Eat Local & Organic Expo!
Hosted by The Food Circle, the Expo brings together eaters, farmers and local food businesses for a free, one-day celebration of the people who nourish our region year-round. Held at the Lenexa Old Town Activity Center on April 4th from 9am-1pm, it’ll be a chance to stock up on local food, meet your farmers and kick off the growing season together.
Why supporting local matters (at the Expo and beyond)
Local farmers and food producers are navigating a perfect storm. They’re contending with rising costs for things like seed, feed and labor, facing increasingly unpredictable weather, and on top of it all, they’re working within a system designed to favor large, consolidated operations over small and mid-scale producers.
When you spend dollars locally, that money circulate close to home. You’re supporting farmers, processors, distributors, markets, and everyone in between. That steady demand helps farmers plan ahead and in the case of KC Food Circle Farmers, invest in sustainable practices leading to healthier soil, cleaner water, and more nutrient-dense food for all of us.

- Vegetable, flower, and native plant transplants and seeds ready for your home garden

- Meet the people behind your food and learn how it’s grown
- Community organizations sharing resources for local food and farm enthusiasts
All vendors are current KC Food Circle members who pledge to use sustainable and humane practices in growing vegetables and mushrooms, beekeeping, and raising animals, so you can shop with confidence and connection.

Volunteer
Our volunteer registration is now live! Come hang out with some cool people, help with set-up or breakdown, greet guests or all of the above. Shop before or after your shift and enjoy a local breakfast or lunch on us!
