2026 Eat Local & Organic Expo by the Numbers

May 12, 2026 | Claire Sinovic

We’re excited to share our 2026 Expo Impact Report, highlighting the connections, momentum and measurable outcomes made possible by this wonderful community of farmers and eaters.

Because of you, this year’s Eat Local & Organic Expo proved to be more than just a one-day event. It was a meaningful investment in our local food system and the people who power it.

Here’s what we accomplished together:

  • 1,000+ attendees showed up to support local food
  • 40+ farmers, food businesses and community partners participated
  • $28,000 invested directly into local farms and businesses
  • 65% of vendors formed new business partnerships
  • 61% of selling vendors gained new customers
  • 50% of attendees were first-time Expo guests, expanding participation in the local food movement
  • 97% of both vendors and shoppers rated their overall Expo experience as excellent or good

These numbers tell an important story. They show us that people are excited about local food! More people are choosing local and more dollars are staying in our communities.

What’s truly crucial and unique here though is the connections and future opportunities that come out of the Expo. This event provides access points for farmers to make more new customers, for small businesses to find collaborators and for community members to deepen their relationship with and understanding of the people who grow their food. The connections made are what lead to long-term success.

As one vendor shared:

“This is still one of my favorite events to participate in because you [The Food Circle] care so much that vendors have a good experience… I made more than I did in the previous year, so I am quite happy with that outcome!”

Another echoed:

“The Food Circle’s work makes such an impact on our little family business… and on the KC community!”

Showing up for local food, through events like the Expo, encourages ripple effects. It equals stronger farms, thriving small businesses, a more resilient food system and healthier communities for all of us.

Thank you again for all your enthusiasm and support!
